The use of modern data techniques has revolutionised the way agriculture operates by allowing for the seamless transfer of millions of rows of data from the farm in near-real time. With the implementation of advanced sensors and connected devices, farmers and scientists can collect a vast array of information on animal behaviour, weather conditions, soil moisture, and other critical metrics. This real-time data can be immediately processed, analysed, and used to make informed decisions, resulting in improved efficiency, reduced waste, and increased productivity.
A real-world application of this can be evidenced through the data sharing arrangement as part of the New Zealand Bioeconomy in the Digital Age NZBIDA initiative. DairyNZ collect data from farm sensors using modern data techniques, process these streams which can contain millions of rows, then curate these datasets for project consumption.
"127 are a long term, strategic, DairyNZ partner. The expertise they bring has enabled the successful delivery of key digital projects - supporting better outcomes for dairy farming in New Zealand. We enjoy working with the team and see them as an extension of our internal capability" - Mike Jonkers, Head of Digital Technologies.
